“Being a historian is so fun! I mean, there’s that whole thing where people will say – and I definitely think it’s the truth – to pick a job that you love and you won’t work a day in your life. I remember going to Rutgers, and, as a grad student, I got to teach two years of English 101, along with teaching history classes. So, especially as a grad student, I wasn’t thinking, ‘Oh, I have to teach this class.’ Instead, I was thinking, ‘They’re going to let me teach this class!’ I literally said to them a few times, ‘I would have paid you guys to let me teach this class!'”
